4.1 moreのある構文
4.1.1 A is no more ～ than B is = A is not ～ any more than B is
4.1.2 A is not more ～ than B is 「AはBほど…でない」
4.1.3 no more than = only 「たったばかり; …にすぎない」
4.1.4 not more than = ～at most 「より多くはない；多くて…だ。」
4.2 lessのある構文
4.2.1 no less ～ than = quite as ～ as 「と同様…だ」
4.2.2 not less ～ than = perhaps more 「…まさるとも劣らず…だ」
4.2.3 no less than = as much (many) as 「…ほども；…を下らない」「…と同様に」
4.2.4 not less than = at least 「少なくとも；…かあるいはそれ以上」

4.1 moreのある構文
4.1.1 A is no more ～ than B is = A is not ～ any more than B is
「Aが…でないのは、Bが…でないのと同様」
I am no more mad than you are. 私が気が狂っていないのは君が狂っていないのと同様だ。
（注）この形は「…でないのは…でないと同様」と否定どうしの比較を表すのに用いられ、than以下に相手に対しても自明のことがらを述べる。
4.1.2 A is not more ～ than B is 「AはBほど…でない」
I am not any madder than you are. 私は気が狂っているにしても君ほどは気が狂っていない。
（注）この形は「Aは…である。 Ｂも…である。しかしＡはＢほどの…でない」とＡとＢが肯定で、その間の比較を表す。
4.1.3 no more than = only 「たったばかり; …にすぎない」
little more than 「…ほんの…にすぎない」
He has no more than one thousand yen.彼はたった千円ぐらいしか持っていない。
He said no more than we expected. 彼は我々が思っていた程度のことしか言わなかった。
4.1.4 not more than = ～at most 「より多くはない；多くて…だ。」
He has not more than one thousand yen.彼の持っているのは多くて千円ぐらい（かそれ以下）だ。

4.2.1 no less ～ than = quite as ～ as 「と同様…だ」
He is no less clever than his father. 彼は父親と同様利口である。
4.2.2 not less ～ than = perhaps more 「…まさるとも劣らず…だ」
(no less～thanのように感嘆を伴わないで単に客観的事実を述べる時に用いる)
He is not less clever than his father.彼は父親にまさるとも劣らず利口である。
Kate is not less beautiful than Jane. ケートは美しさではジェーンに負けない。
4.2.3 no less than = as much (many) as 「…ほども；…を下らない」「…と同様に」
little less than 「…とほとんど同じくらいの」
I have no less than one thousand yen. 私は千円も持っている。
She likes oranges no less than I do. 彼女は私に劣らずオレンジが好きだ。
It is little less than robbery. それはまるで窃盗と同じだ。
4.2.4 not less than = at least 「少なくとも；…かあるいはそれ以上」
I have not less than one thousand yen. [堅] 私の持っているのは千円より少なくはない。

ニョロニョロ（～）than…は「気違い（mad）構文」と覚えよう！

2. no more than, not more than, no less than, not less thanは数 学の「＝」「≦」「≧」記号を考える。
たとえば、「千円持っている」を考えた場合。
1. no more than 1,000は、ちょっきり1,000円持っているが、「～しか」(= only )少ないという気持ちがある。
2. no less than 1,000 は、ちょっきり1,000円持っていて、「～も」（=as much as）多いという気持ちがある。
3.not more than 1,000 は、持っているお金(X)が最高でも1,000円で、「多くとも～しか」の意で、「1,000 ≧X」
